About the Wine
On 6th February 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
“To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, Taylor’s Port, a Royal Warrant Holder to HM The Queen decided to bottle a Very Very Old Tawny Port. This exceptional Port is drawn from our extensive reserves of the finest wood aged wines, which have been maturing in seasoned oak casks, since the Queen succeeded to the throne, silently attesting to Her Majesty’s extraordinary reign as the longest serving Monarch in British history.” stated Adrian Bridge, Managing Director of Taylor’s, and adds: “We are delighted to celebrate such an exceptional commemoration with the launch of a unique Port wine. The perfect glass to raise a toast to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
The component wines for this limited-edition bottling have been individually selected and blended by Taylor’s blenders. The attention to detail in the cellars is displayed on the palate of this extraordinary wine, where notes of anise, marzipan, quince, and subtle hints of butterscotch, overlaid with astonishing refinement and balanced acidity. The decades of ageing in wood have concentrated this wine almost to an essence, producing intense, complex nutty and spicy aromas, elevated by a crisp acidity which gives the wine an attractive freshness.
The pioneering spirit of Taylor's and the dedication to the highest standards in Port is encapsulated in this wine, that combine elegance and poise as well as subtle power and persistence. What better way to celebrate Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee than with an exquisite glass of Taylor's Port.
